Most people in politics do not talk about sex honestly and openly - well, I do. There’s a series of big problems related to sex in America today, and nearly are all related to the absolute ignorance (and sometimes outright stupidity) related to sex education.
Sex education in the American school system is a joke at best - of course some say that we should leave it up to the parents to educate their kids, but in most cases it isn’t merely the blind leading the blind, but the blind, deaf, and dumb leading the same. Parents rarely know more than their children do when it comes to sex.
You can ask your average young person (and by that I mean most people under 25) how effective condoms are, most have some completely incorrect answer and very few have the correct answer: condoms should be used with vaginal, anal, and oral sex. I have met a lot of young people who sincerely believe you cannot get an STD from oral sex - you can, and most commonly it’s herpes (cold sores and fever blisters are herpes - and are highly contagious; however canker sores/ulcers inside the mouth are not a form of herpes and are not contagious).
In case you had not noticed, I’m including valid information with this post, just incase any young person (or adult) reads it, and they can get honest answers from me. There is far more misinformation out there than valid information, and parents don’t help because their answer is often “wait until marriage”, but that really isn’t advice or information - you don’t wait to learn about driving after you get your license, why wait to learn about sex on your wedding night?
If never talking about it, lying to students about it, and pretending everyone will wait until marriage actually worked, then teen pregnancies wouldn’t be on the rise again for the second year in a row. To put it in perspective, prior to the numbers going up, the lowest it’s been in several decades has been about 1 million teen pregnancies each year. Even so, they teach kids to not have sex, but they also believe teaching that masturbation is OK is bad - what?
We tried to wipe out syphilis, but all the bad information has made it come back with a boom - AIDS, herpes, gonorrhea, and others as well. Young people are the ones most commonly getting these viruses, yet we don’t want to tell them about condoms - instead we want to make ourselves feel noble that we have outright lied to them and that will protect them. What’s more, many people, adults included believe that the risk groups for AIDS and other very deadly diseases is only homosexuals and blacks - when that’s simply not the case anymore - any one, of any sexually active age, can have diseases - period.
I know this blog entry isn’t enough, that’s why we’re going to have a whole web site setup related to fully promoting proper information, with no religious agenda - our only agenda is for a healthy America, because if people are sick and dying from having sex, or are knocked off the straight and narrow by having a child very young, then America will suffer.
- Condoms do prevent STDs and pregnancy when used properly and all the time (latex prvent more, lamb skin does not protect against HIV/AIDS)
- Condoms should be used during oral sex and anal sex
- Herpes (cold sores and fever blisters) can be transferred from mouth to gentiles and visa-versa.
- Other than herpes, other diseases such as gonorrhea and syphilis can be transferred during oral sex
- Masturbation is harmless and normal
- Young people are going to have sex no matter what, so we should be honest and give them correct information.
- Remember, no method is 100% effective, but condoms are almost always effective, but the only 100% effective way to not get an STD or get pregnant is by not having sex at all.
